Gear Lamp - Dimmable Mechanical Desk Lamp

What if adjusting a lamp felt like operating a machine?

Gear Lamp is a 3D-printed mechanical lamp built around an exposed gear system. Instead of hiding the controls inside the lamp, the mechanism becomes part of the design.

The lampshade itself is one LARGE gear!

Turn the smaller gear-shaped knob at the base and it drives the lampshade, making the entire shade to rotate. At the same time, that same motion adjusts the brightness of the light!

One movement.
Two functions.
Mechanical motion and light working together.

The repeating gear teeth and vertical ribs give the lamp an industrial, engineered appearance, while the warm diffused light keeps it comfortable enough for a desk, bedside table, shelf, studio, or living space.

Every part of the design was developed around making the interaction visible. Instead of pressing a hidden button or turning an ordinary dimmer, you physically move the lamp itself to control the light.

Designed, prototyped, and built by DaLychee.
